ME

Colleen Leonardi originated and founded c | J in 2006 and serves as its editor and curator. Choreographer, writer, and teacher, Leonardi holds a B.A. in Dance and Creative Writing from Bennington College and an M.F.A. in Choreography and Dance Writing from the Ohio State University.

Her choreography has been presented in New York City, Chicago, Vermont and Columbus. The “Village Voice”, “criticaldance.com”, and “Ohio Dance” have published her writings. In 2006, she was a recipient of the NEA Fellowship for Dance Criticism at ADF, a University Presidential Fellowship Nominee for her graduate research in dance, and the recipient of the AGGRS award for her Graduate Research in Dance at OSU.

She has studied and worked with Bebe Miller, Abby Yager, Tere O’Connor, Jeanine Durning, Terry Creach, Dana Reitz, and Susan Sgorbati. Leonardi has also studied extensively with Susan Rethorst and collaborates with her on writing projects.  

Currently, she is based in Columbus and works as Program Coordinator at The Jefferson Center for Learning and the Arts (www.thejeffersoncenter.org). She also teaches at Antioch College and is a visiting artist at St. Mary’s College. And she is an administrator for SUPA, a summer series of choreographic workshops at Wilson College (www.wilson.edu/supa).
